Africhip R&D signs a Memorandum of Understanding with the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) Abuja
Today marks a major milestone in our journey to contribute to the development of Nigeria’s semiconductor industry and, by extension, Africa’s technological future. Africhip R&D has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) Abuja, granting us strategic access to Nigeria’s critical raw materials relevant to chip making and semiconductor research. This is more than an institutional partnership. It is a bold step toward building sovereign semiconductor capacity in Nigeria, strengthening Africa’s participation in advanced technology, and positioning our continent to contribute meaningfully to the global semiconductor value chain. At Africhip R&D, our mission is clear: to develop the research, infrastructure, talent, and industrial partnerships required to support semiconductor innovation from Africa. This milestone reinforces our commitment to building a serious, focused, and globally relevant semiconductor ecosystem rooted in Nigeria’s natural resources, scientific capacity, and engineering potential. Our vision is clear. We will proceed with setting up our microfabrication laboratory, advancing materials research, developing local technical capacity, and building the foundations required for Nigeria to participate in one of the most important industries shaping the future of the global economy. The journey ahead will be challenging, but it is necessary. Semiconductor capability is not built by wishful thinking. It is built through research, infrastructure, partnerships, talent development, patient capital, and national commitment. Africhip R&D is ready to build. Follow our page and stay connected. Exciting opportunities and openings within our lab will be announced soon. The future of African semiconductor innovation will not be imported. It will be built, deliberately, strategically, and boldly from within.
